Fiber Arts Open Show

September 2 - 28, 2019

Meet the Artists Reception
Sunday, September 8, 1 pm—4 pm

FiberArtsFB2019

Fiber Art

Fiber Art is art created using natural or synthetic fibers.  Techniques relating to fiber, such as sewing or weaving.  One of these must be present for work to be considered fiber art.  This show caters to all fiber arts enthusiasts - quilters, sewers, knitters, felters, embroiderers, weavers, spinners -- and to those who appreciate the traditional arts that have been passed on from one generation to the next.  We want each artist to think of this show as an opportunity to showcase their process and perhaps give more of an in-depth perspective as to the "why" behind their art.  Anyone can submit their work.  We encourage you to attend the reception so that the audience may meet the creators and learn about the methods used to make these one-of-a-kind works.

Categories include:

  • Quilts: traditional, pictorial, abstract, modern, fantasy, miniature, applique, pieced/applique or other;
  • Wearable Art: Garment or Accessory
  • Fiber Art: knit, felt, including nuno felting, needle felting, crochet, weaving, including jacquard weaving, hand weaving, sewing, spinning, needlework, tapestry, 3-d/sculptural, mixed media, or other (including basketry, beadwork, braiding, jewelry, rugs, or mixed techniques) and surface design, including batik, shibori, hand-dyeing, natural or eco-dyeing; embroidery, crewel, applique, and other needle arts, felting, hooking, including rug hooking and hooked art.
