Sidney's Classes - February

Print Email

We are starting off the new year with some exciting new classes.  To attend these classes please call Pam Heinrich at 876-3881 to make your reservation.  These classes are held at the Sidney Art Gallery and fill up fast.

February 17, Monday, 6 pm to 7:30 pm.  Chris Stansbery will be teaching an exciting knitting technique called ENTRELAC.  This Entrelac sample545technique is used to create a textured pattern that resembles basket-woven strips of knitted fabric.  Entrelac knitting allows for colorwork and is often used to create patterns in socks, hats, scarves, blankets, purses, pillows and more.  You will need to know the basic knitting stitches knit and purl.  You will need to bring one pair of knitting needles in any size 6, 7 or 8.  You will create a square using cotton yarn that can be used as a dishcloth, potholder, hotpad or made into a small notions bag by the end of the evening.  Chris will be supplying the yarn.  There is no fee for this class.  A fun way to spend these cold evenings knitting up a beautiful gift for someone (or yourself).

February 19, Wednesday, 6 pm to 7:30 p.m. HELP YOUR WEBSITE EVERYDAY: USING BLOGSStrategy-For-Web-Design

Guy Cook will be teaching another class in getting your website set up.  If you have attended Guy's earlier classes, you will want to continue with HELP YOUR WEBSITE EVERYDAY:  BLOGGING.  There is no fee for this class.  Starting new blogs can be difficult and this has put many people off. Some may get off to a good start, but then become quickly discouraged because of the lack of comments or visits to their blogging efforts. You want to stand out from this crowd of millions of bloggers, you want to be one of the few hundred thousand blogs that are actually visited. Here are some simple tips to help you.  Even if you didn't attend Guy's previous classes you will still be able to jump in and get some ideas for website planning.

March 10, Monday, 6 pm to 7:30 pm.  Mary Peterson will be teaching the art of NEEDLE TURN APPLIQUE.  Mary is getting started on the Heritage Quilt. The quilt will be used to raise money for our Olga 'Toni' Nelson Student Art Scholarship fund.  It takes about one year to make this quilt so it will not be raffled off until 2015. Mary will supply all you need to get started.  You do need to have some sewing experience, but don't worry she will get you started and excited to complete one of the blocks we tips-for-needleturn-applique-free-pattern large
need to complete this quilt.  There is no fee for this class.
