March 2020 -- 43nd Annual Student Show
The mission of the Sidney Museum and Arts Association is preserving history ~ promoting art. One of the primary ways to fulfill that mission is to recognize and encourage students who might want to embrace a career in the arts. Each year, we sponsor a student art show and encourage all forms of art from ceramics and mixed media to photography and watercolors and oil. This year, 2020, is the 43rd annual student art show at the Sidney Gallery. We have invited 6th grade through 12th grade students from South Kitsap High School, the Discovery Alternative School, Explorer Academy, Marcus Whitman Middle School, John Sedgwick Middle School, Cedar Heights Middle School and home-schooled students. The $500 Toni Nelson Art Scholarlship is offered to a graduating high school student and an additional $500 scholarship is available from the South Kitsap Artists Association.
Interested students should contact the art teachers at their schools, who have the registration information. Teachers, students and their parents and friends are invited to attend the Artists' Reception on March 14 from 1pm to 4pm. Students will be able to enter to win prizes provided by the South Kitsap Artists Association. This year, all students and their teachers entering the show will receive a complimentary membership to the Sidney Museum and Arts Association.
