South Kitsap Artists' Association
The 50th anniversary of the South Kitsap Artists Association was held in 2011. The group started in 1961 when a number of Port Orchard women began getting together in their homes. Today, the South Kitsap Artists Association is a collective group of fine artists who meet at the Sidney Art Gallery on the 4th Monday each month at 7:00 p.m. to share in work accomplishments, demonstrations, event planning, socializing and networking for educational and marketing purposes. The mediums that are represented include soft pastels, charcoal and conte, oil pastels, acrylics, mixed media, watercolors and oils. Membership consists of both professional fine artists and those who paint as a hobby.
SKAA members have a group wall at the Sidney Art Gallery to exhibit all year. They participate in local art walks, paint outs, open studios, classes and pot lucks. In October each year, the group hosts a juried members exhibition at the Sidney Gallery.
