Annual Student Art Show
The Sidney Art Gallery is pleased to present it's 40th annual Student Art Show featuring work by aspiring artists from the South Kitsap High School and the Discovery Alternative School. Join these artists at the reception of March 12, 2017, from 1pm to 4pm. The mission of the Sidney Museum and Arts Association is preserving history ~ promoting art. One of the primary ways that we fulfill that mission is to recognize and encourage students who might want to embrace a career in the arts. Each year, we sponsor a student art show and encourage all forms of art from ceramics and mixed media to photography and watercolors and oil. The Olga "Toni" Nelson Art scholarship is offered to a graduating high school student.
The Olga "Toni" Nelson Art Scholarship is awarded to a high school student (including students being home schooled) from the South Kitsap area each year in May. Applications are available at the Sidney Art Gallery during the Student Show (held in March), as well as at the South Kitsap High School and this website. Applications are accepted from January through May. The submissions are reviewed by a committee. The decision and the award is made by the end of May. The scholarship is sent directly to the college or art school chosen by the scholarship winner once confirmation of enrollment is received by the Sidney Museum and Arts Association.
To apply, you must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and be a graduating senior from the South Kitsap area. You may submit work from any media, including photography, graphic arts, pottery, and/or sculpture for evaluation by the SMAA judges. Please provide the following:
